Is Apple really set to reveal its AI Strategy at WWDC

Yes, Apple’s going to talk about their AI plans at their big developer event!

Apple is planning to use smart AI in its products sooner than we think. On Tuesday, they said their big developer conference, WWDC, will happen from June 10 to June 14.

Usually, on the first day of the conference, Apple talks to developers in a big way. They show off new software and sometimes even new gadgets. This time, we’re expecting a sneak peek at iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 for iPhones and iPads. Plus, we’ll see updates for Apple Watch, Apple TV, and macOS for Mac computers. But this year, everyone’s curious about how they’ll use Gen AI in their top-selling stuff like iPhones and Macs.

Apple uses AI in its products, but it’s not the fancy kind that can generate stuff on its own, like ChatGPT from OpenAI or Google’s Gemini AI chatbots. Still, Apple is investing a lot of moneyᅳbillions, actuallyᅳinto making its own version of this smart AI. They’ve got their own big language model called Ajax and are working on a chatbot, internally called Apple GPT. But you won’t find these in their main products just yet.

Meanwhile, Apple is quietly talking with Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic (or Baidu in China), to use their cloud-based AI features, while Apple focuses on its own smart features inside its devices. Apple CEO Tim Cook mentioned in February that they’re putting a lot of money into AI and hinted at an AI-related announcement “later this year,” which many experts think will happen at the Worldwide Developers Conference.

The big news about Apple’s AI plan at the June developer conference matters a lot to investors. Some worry that the top tech company is lagging in the AI race. But guess what? Apple’s been quietly improving its AI stuff and even buying companies like DarwinAI, a startup from Canada.

The yearly WWDC conference will be live-streamed on Apple’s website, though the company is inviting a few software creators to its campus on the first day to ‘celebrate in person’.
